Port Prosperity (RKG) – Captain David Shepherd took a courageous stand in support of the King after radicals opposed to the new Gath peace treaty incited a riot in his hometown of Port Prosperity.
"It takes a man of character to stand up to his neighbors and tell them they're wrong," said Lt. Robert Brooks, a police officer who attempted to restore order when protestors in Port Prosperity became violent. "He went in and confronted the troublemakers until they backed down."
The protest was sparked by King Silas's decision to hand over the land North of the River Prosperity to Gath. His diplomacy has incensed some of the residents of those towns that will be affected.
What started out as a political rally turned ugly this weekend when a number of Port Prosperity dockworkers barricaded themselves in a warehouse, demanding the King rescind the handover to Gath.
One person was killed and 31 injured in the ensuing mayhem, according to Port Prosperity medical workers at the scene.
Port Prosperity mayor Lorne Coleman issued a statement earlier this morning explaining that those who incited the uprising have been arrested and that the town of Port Prosperity remains supportive of the King's peace offering. "We will do our part for peace, whatever the sacrifice," the mayor added.
King Silas sent Princess Michelle Benjamin and Captain David Shepherd as his representatives on the scene. Shepherd, a native of Port Prosperity, and Princess Michelle worked together to help calm emotions, and they successfully talked the rioters into surrendering peacefully to police.
A soldier on the front lines only months ago, Shepherd has been given increasing responsibility since his arrival at court as the Military Liaison to the Press Corps. Having proven himself once again, Captain Shepherd is poised to play an even more significant role in the court.
"Captain Shepherd has demonstrated that he will put the King's interest before his own," said Natalie Adams, head blogger for the political website AdamsPost.org. "And now he has even spoken out against his own community on the King's behalf. Loyalty like that is rare and refreshing in the court, and King Silas is not the kind of man to ignore it."
